And The Walls Came Tumbling Down.....

...or did they?

In 1987, President Ronald Reagan, speaking at the Brendenburg Gate, West Berlin urged General Secretary Gorbachev, “if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”

The wall dividing the city of Berlin came tumbling down. From today’s perspective, 20 years later, the wall wasn’t restraining freedom’s progress West to East. Instead, its function was that of a dike holding back a deadly sea of totalitarian poison. When released, it surged from East to West, leaving victims in its wake including German Christian homeschooling families who have been gasping for help, in need of political asylum.

In hindsight, Reagan appears naive, Gorbachev cunning. Reagan’s speech included optimistic plans for the future of Germany’s youth – a student exchange program, for example, with other democracies because, “…there is no better way to establish hope for the future than to enlighten young minds…”.

Today’s reality, a far cry from interesting visits in other countries, is that a 15-year-old homeschooled Christian, Melissa Busekros, has been seized by the German police, committed to mental hospitals for psychiatric evaluations, her parents denied visits.

Germany’s view, as reported by World Net Daily, is Germany “has a legitimate interest in countering the rise of parallel societies that are based on religion or motivated by different world views and in integrating minorities into the population as a whole.”

That should make your blood run cold, whether liberal, middle-of-the-road, or conservative.

If you’ve never understood the religion freedoms on which America was founded, a WND quote from a German minister of education is exactly what our Founding Fathers did NOT want for our country:

“…the education authority is in conversation with the affected family in order to look for possibilities to bring the religious convictions of the family into line with the unalterable school attendance requirement.”

I’m convinced Mike Farris, Home School League of Defense, assisting the German homeschoolers, is correct when he says, “The philosophy that the government knows best how to raise children is really becoming a worldwide phenomenon. I think Germany represents the edge of the night that’s coming.”

By “coming” Farris means, “coming to America”, brought to you by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, not yet ratified by the American Senate. Given the rogue federal judges of the last few years, the words “not yet” are troubling to me.

Make no mistake. This IS about parental rights. This IS about the rights of children. This is about the right of families to follow spiritual and moral convictions without the invasion and control of government.

To protect American parents, Farris has called for an amendment to the United State’s Constitution, protecting the rights of all parents in education choices for their children should Senate ratification, or adoption by the federal courts occur.

Parents’ rights to control their children’s education was never written into our Constitution because the Founding Fathers recognized that it was the Bible that gave parents a God-given right to educate their children at home or in a private or government school.”

Farris’ concern is quite justified. The liberal judges on the U.S. Supreme Court are relying more and more on international law for guidance in their judgments. In the Hamdan v. Rumsfeld case, the Court upheld the Geneva Conventions of 1949 as enforceable U.S. law.” Dr. Samuel L. Blumenfeld

Behind the mischief, among other liberal judges, is the Dishonorable Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who would sooner we follow international law, our judges free to consult “all manner of commentary” including that of international law.

The notion that it is improper to look beyond the borders of the United States in grappling with hard questions is in line with the view of the U.S. Constitution as a document essentially frozen in time as of the date of its ratification. I am not a partisan of that view. U.S. jurists honor the framers’ intent “to create a more perfect Union,” I believe, if they read the Constitution as belonging to a global 21st century, not as fixed forever by 18th-century understandings.” “(Quoted from WND Article)

Abraham Lincoln warned us:

At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.” —From the January 27, 1838 Lyceum Address

Make no mistake. Hitler’s “spirit” is alive and well, a threat to every single American’s freedom. Wake up America before it is too late.
